Social Service Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC)
Senate Bill No. 498, approved by the Governor of California on September 16, 1987, required the establishment
of a social services transportation advisory council to serve as an advisory body regarding the transit needs
of transit dependent and transit disadvantaged persons, including the elderly, handicapped, and persons of
limited means. The SSTAC also coordinated the unmet transit needs process.
The purpose of the SSTAC is to monitor and promote improvements to those public transportation services for
low income, transit dependent, persons with disabilities and seniors residing in the Tahoe Basin on El Dorado
and Placer Counties. This is accomplished by fostering the coordination and consolidation of transit services,
wherever practical and feasible. Is also accomplished by identifying needs or shortcomings in the existing
transportation service system and suggesting feasible ways to meet those needs and/or overcome the shortcomings.
The committee when meeting occur on the South Shore also act as the BlueGO Transit Advisory Committee for the South
Tahoe Area Transit Authority.
The SSTAC meets on the north shore and south shore every other month alternating between the two shores.
The meetings on the north shore are held at the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association Offices located at 3000
Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA in January, May and September on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm.
The meetings on the south shore are held at the California Department of Rehabilitation Offices in the Star Lake
uilding, 2489 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA in March, July and November on the third Monday of the month
